Communication Segmentation

I have to give some cred to Blake my co-founder of ActionsTalk. Blake recently wrote one of the best blog posts I’ve read in a while about how he’s handled the problem of “information overload” and efficient communication. As you know I am about tech for value’s sake not tech for tech’s sake and Blake has definitely found a valuable combination of technologies in his communication segmentation strategy. The post is really what I think many blogs miss (this one included) a solid how-to with personal experience and application. Blake’s diagram of how he’s used his iPhone to more efficiently manage information and communication is awesome. Solid post Blake.

This post alone is now one of the strongest opposing factors in my battle to hold out on getting an iPhone. At this point it’s only a matter of time.

Check out Blake’s post on Communication Segmentation here.

Instinctiv.com makes the shuffle feature smart-er.

instinctiv_img1.jpg

Instinctiv.com want to make your iPod or iPhone smart! They describe the features of their application this way:

“The random shuffle was a cool feature when it first launched. But, let’s be honest, it left out the most important element: you. After all, your taste in music isn’t random-it’s instinctive.

That’s why Instinctive Shuffle was created. This smart new app goes far beyond the random shuffle and actually makes song recommendations to match whatever mood you’re in. So you can explore and experience your music in a whole new way.”

By skipping the songs that you don’t want to hear Instinctiv captures these decisions and learns from your preferences/choices. It sounds very similar to Pandora.com’s free music streaming feature but takes it directly to you and your iPod. I’m a fan of any tool that helps my music experience become a better one.

Instinctiv Shuffle™ is the first product by Instinctiv (formerly Predict Systems), a company dedicated to changing the way that consumers experience their entertainment.

It has only been available on certain Nokia models but with the release of the 3G iPhone, Qik is now available on the iPhone. This will sky rocket user numbers for Qik guaranteed. While streaming a Qik video people watching the video from the web can also live chat with the person streaming! Here is a demo that was filmed 13 minutes prior to this post by Kevin Rose of Digg.com.

Let us know if you’ve used Qik or have a new 3G iPhone.

Apple’s MobileMe: just another attack on Windows

wwdc-keynote_mobileme.jpg
For those of you who are still Windows “die hards” (I can’t imagine why?) it will become harder and harder for you to stick to your guns. As Apple’s MobileMe makes people’s digital lives easier and easier to manage it will become increasingly impossible to ignore the superior UI that Apple is offering and are continuing to improve.
