Goals

One of the goals that I set when I first started writing on ActionsTalk is that 100 people would read the site in one day. Well finally, (a lot later than I thought) I reached that goal. On March 15th we had 132 unique visits to the site.

March 17th visits As you can see one day later there were 13 visitors, a 90% decrease in 24 hours. Sadly the 132 was a one day count hopefully with your help I can continue to write and post quality so that the number continues to grow.

Thanks for you help in achieving this small goal.

ActionsTalk 2.0

As you can tell, if you are a return reader, ActionsTalk has gone through some cosmetic changes. This layout gives us more options on features to offer our readers such as the new translations courtesy of Google (more to come). I hope you enjoy ActionsTalk 2.0. Please leave comments concerns and feedback. Thanks.

Britney Spears and Kim Kardashian to marry with live coverage on Youtube!!!

Really the topic of this post is: How to write attractive headlines for your blog posts.

Blog post titles are extremely important.  It is the first thing that the reader sees in their RSS, SERP (search engine results page), or social bookmarking site.  Also, your title is probably the number one thing that will affect a search engines ability to accurately categorize you post/site.

There are a few well know factors in writing blog posts and attracting readers to your site. As ActionsTalk is very young we have yet to build a substantial reader base but we are on our way.

Here are a few keys to quality blog post titles:

  •  Post titles should paint a clear picture of the subject matter of the post (obviously I didn’t follow this very well here).
  • Post titles should entice the reader to continue reading the rest of your post.
  • Post titles should use keywords and phrases that will be picked up by search engines.

Britney Spears, Kim Kardashian, and Youtube were all in the top 15 most search terms on Google this week.  With this post title I will test the validity of the claims made in this post.  Currently the site avgs. about 25 unique readers a day my guess is that this post title will shoot the unique reader number well above the avg.  A post of the results of this test forthcoming.

Web 2.0 Logos

As I work on  logos for ActionsTalk and other projects, I found this to give me a little artistic inspiration.  I’d say this is a good place to start…

Flickr

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.

I’ve started using Flickr to manage the images on this site. My intent is to improve the aesthetics of the site and of the posts. Flickr automatically imports the images in the style that you choose and was very easy to set up from there site.  The Flickr “professional” was not needed to attain this feature. Any one with a camera and an internet connection can set up this free Flickr account. Not bad.  I hope you enjoy the pics!

Logo, round 2.

Using the feedback that I got on the last logo post I’ve created this very simple version of the logo.  All comments are welcome, so please give feedback. I encourage you to tell me I’m an uncreative, unimaginative, piece of ____.  Just tell me something!
